Winter Skincare Tips

Winter…..Love it or Hate it – it’s on it’s way…..well in Australia that is.

The Cold, Rain, Wind, Indoor Heating can leave our skin feeling dry, flaky, tight, dehydrated and really uncomfortable.  However with the right Winter Skincare Routine in place you can achieve hydrated, glowing radiant skin even in Winter and this is how:

Cleanse

Clean your skin with a cream or oil-based cleanser, foaming or soap-based formulas can be too harsh on Winter.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating will help get rid of dead skin cells which increases circulation and encourages cell turnover. It also allows your serum or moisturizer to penetrate better into your skin instead of the products sitting on top of the dead skin.

Serum

A hydrating serum will deeply moisturise your skin, the small molecules allow for more penetration and therefore hydrate more than just the top layer of your skin.

Sunscreen

Even in Winter you must wear an SPF. Clouds and rain don’t stop UV rays coming through and damaging your skin.

Night-time Nourishment

Stepping up your moisturiser in Winter can give you extra nourishment. Use an even thicker, richer formula at night when your skin is in rejuvenation mode.

Protection

Using a barrier cream for any extra sensitive bits (think dry nose), will stop the Winter cold and wind from doing more damage. Try Lanolips Everywhere Multi-Cream.

Lips

Keep a lip treatment in your handbag and apply to help with dry, cracked lips.  I like to use Lanolips 101 Ointment Multipurpose Balm.

Lock in Water

As soon as you jump out of your shower or bath, towel dry and apply your moisturiser quick-smart. This will help the moisture stay on and in your skin.

Turn Down The Temp

A hot shower or bath is so nice in Winter, but don’t make it too scalding, hot water actually dries out your skin more.

Feet and Hands

Use Lanolips Cream on your feet and hands and then slip on some socks and gloves before hitting the hay for a deeply nourishing treat.
