The underlying premise of meditation is that your state of mind influences your quality of life. It is about mastering the relationship with your mind and learning to accept life as it is.
Inscape is a Luxury NYC Meditation Studio located in the Flatiron district and Spa it Girl Contributor Erica Joy Dun went to find out what all the New York City Wellness Hotspot Buzz is about:
When you first walk into Inscape, you will notice the beautiful gift shop on the left filled with lovely products, such as candles, dusts, oils and books. On the right hand side is a lounge with tea and fruit infused waters.
As I checked in, I was given a brief tour of the community spaces, locking room and noise resistant, surround sound meditation rooms. I took off my shoes, put my bag in the locker and wandered around for a few minutes before class started.
There were a few people hanging out in bean bag chairs near the waiting area, either reading or meditating.
The space is absolutely gorgeous – it is beautifully and thoughtfully designed with lots of nooks and crannies to hang out, rest or catch up with a friend over a cup of tea.
Khajak Keledijian, Founder of Inscape – wanted to create a space to reflect the sensory touch points, making meditation accessible and simple to those who are unfamiliar with the practice. And, he has absolutely succeeded. Inscape is for the beginner, the one who is curious about meditation but hasn’t quite found their practice yet.
A few minutes before the meditation began, we were asked to head inside and find a comfortable seat. Before heading into the studio, the facilitator introduced herself to each one of us, offering an essential oil to use during class. I found a comfortable seat on a stack of meditation cushions. Each space had cushions and a blanket for each us to use.
I was extremely comfortable and wrapped myself with the blanket. The facilitator introduced herself once more, sitting in the center of the room and explained how the visualization meditation was going to happen.
Through speakers, we heard a loud voice over us that would be guiding the meditation. So yes, the meditation is lead by a recording not by an actual person. This was a totally new experience for me and actually enjoyed every minute of it! I have been to many group meditations but by having a pre-recorded meditation gave it a different vibe.
It was very well organized and structured which I appreciated. The mediation was smooth, easy to follow and extremely relaxing at the same time. After about 30 minutes, the recording finished and our facilitator instructed us to slowly open our eyes. And just like that, it was finished.
It was absolutely a quick fix in a busy bustling city. This haven is a wonderful place to literally “check out” for a few moments. I can absolutely see why people are running to visit Inscape.
It’s truly a unique experience that is bring meditation to the masses. I will absolutely be back to try a variety of their other themed meditations and I invite every other Spa it Girl who lives in New York City or when visiting NYC to try a Mediation Session at Inscape also to book visit: www.inscape.life
