a Queenstown Spa it Girl Must – ONSEN Hot Pools

Relax an Be a Spa it Girl at Onsen Hot Pools in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Sock in their Cedar Hot Tubs that are heated to 37.8C on warmer days and up to 39.8C during the winter suitable for up to 4 adults to fit in.

Situated high on a cliffside overlooking the magnificent Shooter River Canyon, it’s a natural alpine peaceful setting matched with pure water captured on its endless journey between the sky and earth to continually fill and refresh the pools.

Spa it Girl Contributor Mary Sorrel tells us what being a Spa it Girl at Onsen Hot Pools was really like:

I had heard all about the spa with the hot tubs looking over the mountains so when the opportunity came up to go! I just had to go for it.

I booked in for the 1 hour takendiki experience which included an aromatherapy candle, towels, water, choice of beer, wine or bubbles and chocolate or ice-cream.

On arrival the staff took our order, I got the bubbles while hubby got the beer and we opted for dark chocolate and chocolate ice cream.

We got taken down to the spa, each spa is in its own private room with a shower, the “window” to the mountains is actually a glass door that slides up to ceiling opening up your world to the nature around you.

The tub is perfectly steaming temperature, however you can add extra cold water from a stream in the ceiling. It was amazing, the warm water and cool mountain air made for the most relaxing experience, perfect after a big day of skiing!

An hour was not long enough! And it’s clear why the pools are so fully booked.

If traveling to Queenstown this is a MUST for any Spa it girl.
