Aja Malibu: a Wellness Spiritual Retreat

Aja Malibu is the world’s newest intimate wellness retreat that is taking spiritual healing to the whole next level.

Aja Malibu was founded by the self-described “modern mystic” Inannya Magick, who spent her childhood in Australia growing up feeling rather sick and not having the best health for a kid.  ring sick growing up as a kid inspired Magick to want to find out more about Health and Wellness and Healing yourself so she travelled the world finding out about holistic remedies and even studied with a goddess teacher in Nepal and a shaman in Peru.  When it comes to new age, spiritual healing nothing is off limits for Magick as she is open to learning more, and has dabbled in everything from fasting to homeopathy and Chakra and Spa Spiritual Healing.

Magick made a decision to live her passion, love and dreams and to share her knowledge with others so she could too help heal them and to do this she wanted to start an intimate, peaceful, magical spiritual wellness and health retreat like no other that was authentic to her own beliefs.  Magic found a property on 23 acres in the majestic mountains of Malibu, California surrounded by acres of state parkland and it then took her 7 years to transform the place into the intimate boutique stylish, beautiful wellness, health, spiritual retreat now know as Aja Malibu.  Magick poured her heart and soul into creating Aja Malibu and the property has seven oasis-like-gardens, one for each chakra and seven guest rooms, including one called the fairy’s wing, which was created so visitors could focus on believing.

Aja Malibu offers 7 day wellness retreats and on site they have a living foods kitchen, apothecary for health, nutrition workshops, oxygenated and ozonated water swimming pool, seven chakra themed gardens, a crystal infused spa with far infrared sauna and Jacuzzi, library , meditation and sound healing room and of course the peace and serenity of a luxury rejuvenation retreat.

Guests wake to a breakfast of what Magick calls “plant-based whole-life foods” from the gardens. “It’s extremely clean. I use tea bases instead of a lot of heavy oils,” she says. She also eschews nuts and “overstimulating” spices like garlic and ginger.  A fennel salad might be topped with edible geranium flowers and paired with homemade vitamin water. “Literally leaves are falling off the trees and we’re putting them in our pot, reconnecting with nature,” Magick says.

The morning meal is followed by a hike on one of the surrounding trails, then it’s back to the ranch for a series of spa treatments—up to 28 over the course of a weeklong stay ($10,000 per person). In addition to supplying the kitchen, the plants allow for a full-fledged apothecary stocked with rose-leaf astringent and calendula-infused body oils. Some spa offerings look to Eastern traditions—acupuncture and a signature massage that incorporates tuning forks and Tibetan singing bowls—while more high-tech options make use of a dual vibration machine and a far infrared sauna.
More than any treatment here, it’s the pace and duration that seem truly radical. There’s no gym at Aja, and visitors are expected to last seven days without their phones, which prompts the classic thought experiment about what it means to experience self-fulfilment and ocean views and not post about it on social media, as the first thing we all want to do when we experience something truly beautiful is take a photo and post about it.

The Aja Spa: is a magical, Egyptian-inspired, crystal cave-setting. The spa was created with deep intention as a healing, sacred, nurturing space. Crystals, plants and mystical symbolism align the walls and walkways. Four treatment rooms named after the different components of a tree (root, bark, flower, leaf) house different, healing energies. The Spa has a far-infrared sauna, ozonated Jacuzzi, cold plunge and dual vibration machine. Transformative therapists includes Aja’s Signature Chakra Tune-Up and every spa treatment is focussed on healing your body, mind and soul and re-igniting your inner health and wellbeing.
