Spa Destination: Stephanie’s Spa Retreat
Location: Sofitel Brisbane Central – Brisbane City – Queensland – Australia
Spa Treatment Tried & Tested by #SPAITGIRL: Opal Rasul Steam Temple
My #SPAITGIRL Insider review: Stephanie’s Spa Retreat is located in the Sofitel Brisbane Central Hotel in the Brisbane City, Queensland [Australia]. It has to be one of the most central spa location’s for any #SPAITGIRL or #SPAITBOY to get to as t’s located right on top of the Brisbane Central Train Station. I personally think it’s the perfect spa to retreat to when you are visiting the Brisbane City as they say location, location.
Stephanie’s Spa Retreat has a great choice of Spa Treatments however – I was really fascinated about trying one of their unique Signature Spa Experience’s the: Opal Rasul Steam Temple as I have never seen this type of spa treatment on any of the other spa menus I had visited before.
If you are wondering what an Opal Rasul Steam Temple spa treatment is? it’s a one hour spa treatment that involves covering yourself with Stephanie’s very own signature mineralised body masks. The masks you apply body at the start of your spa treatment are designed to help you detox and purify your skin.
You are given 3 different masks, one for your lower body, one for your upper body, and one for your face which is more designed to help hydrate your facial skin. After you apply the masks all over your body you then get to lay back and take a couple of nice big deep breathes in while looking around and then up to the roof of the beautiful twinkling star shining dome roof. After that steam starts to come out and then over your entire body and the temple fills up with steam. If you open your eyes you will notice you can’t see any of the walls or the ceiling and it might feel very intense especially if this is your first time experiencing the Opal Rasul Steam Temple.
Before your spa treatment they encourage you to lay back relax, close my eyes, take a couple of big deep breath’s in and out, draw my attention inwards, and to listen to the beautiful spa therapy music. As you are also in a steam room they encourage you to drink lots of water throughout your spa treatment and there is also a shower off to the side of the Opal Rasul Steam Temple so you can have a break and shower any time you find that the steam is getting a bit to much.
So what did I really think of Stephanie’s Spa Retreat & their signature spa treatment?
Firstly I have to say….I love the location it has to be best central day spa’s in Brisbane City – that was a big winner for me as I really wanted to have a spa treatment then do a spot of shopping afterwards at H&M and Toyshop in the Brisbane City Mall after my #SPAITGIRL Brisbane City spa treatment. I loved how I got to step into the Sofitel Hotel and it had this really nice hotel feel so instantly I felt like I was going on a bit of a #SPAITGIRL Getaway.
On arrival I was greeted by Ivan who has to be one of the most friendliest, happiest, welcoming, smiling spa therapist I’ve ever come across. I think I was actually more excited to find out he was a fully qualified spa therapist himself and in all of my travels and #SPAITGIRL luxury spa review’s.
I have never come across a male spa therapist before so it was great to meet Ivan as he was a true#SPAITBOY at heart. I have a lot of #SPAITBOY readers so yes it’s true #SPAITGIRLS… even boys, and men love to visit the Day Spa and even become Spa Therapists as much as we do.
My first thoughts of their Bath Robe? One of the things I loved most was when I first put on my bath robe was that it was a proper fluffy robe just the way spa robes are meant to be there are a lot of spa’s these day’s offering waffle robes in their day spa but the feeling of a fluffy robe to me is the ultimate spa it girl feel good experience. A fluffy robe feels so nice on.
I loved the quaint waiting spa relaxation room it had such a parisian feel to it and it transpired me to think about beautiful Paris, CoCo Channel and the style and elegance of France. I loved sipping on their signature tea I had one cup but then I wanted more. But before I knew it Ivan re-appeared and it was time for my very first #SPAITGIRL treatment with a true #SPAITBOY therapist.

The treatment I had was a full body exfoliate scrub, Ivan used Stephanie’s very own signature macadamia scrub and it felt so amazing on I think I could have eaten it smelt and felt that good. I totally loved it.

Ivan’s spa therapy technique was spot on, he was a true professional and I didn’t one minute feel awkward or uncomfortable if you feel a bit funny about booking in with a male spa therapist then don’t if you are booking in with Ivan at Stephanie’s Spa Retreat at the Sofitel as he is really good. When I eventually washed off my body scrub in the shower my skin felt so silky smooth absolutely soft, clean and beautiful.
After my preparation body scrub exfoliate treatment I was off next to the Opal Rasual Steam Temple what can I say – wow when Ivan open the glass front door and I saw all the beautiful colour mosaic and the little round island in the middle with the masks in little bowls awaiting me – I started getting rathe excited as I felt like I was stepping into a whole new #SPAITGIRL ancient world.
I loved how the Opal Rasul Steam Temple had a dome in the middle of the roof with all these twinkling pretty stars glittering and how around the temple room wall there were these lovely soft lights with candles and all I could hear was the beautiful soothing spa relaxation music.

Ivan was so great he went through the whole spa treatment and what I need to do so I felt as soon as he left I knew exactly what I needed to do.
Putting on the masks were so beautiful nice, cool and for anyone that doesn’t even have enough time in their life to pop on full body cream, you will love this nurturing body, mind, spirit feeling.
After I had popped on all the mask – next all I needed to do was lay down, close my eye, relax, unwind, and focus on my breath and breathing in and out. When the steam started and went over me and started filling up the room and I couldn’t see anything other than seem to be honest it felt rather daunting if you are not one for confined spaces however all I tried to do was not freak out and remember Ivan’s advice and that got me through.
I made sure I also took Ivan’s advice and felt my way around the wall to get a drink. I also made sure I kept up my fluids throughout the whole Opal Rasual Steam Temple spa experience.
When I felt a little bit to hot or that I needed a break from the steam room, I just went in and had a little bit of a shower to cool off then came back out again and eventually when all the steam settled down and I opened up my eyes I could see the beautiful walls and the twinkling dome it was mesmerising.

I felt like I was overseas and that I had spiritually time travelled to perhaps a luxury ancient day spa in Morocco, I perhaps thought of Morocco because I have personally travelled there before had seen a lot of mosaic.
More towards the end of spa treatment I flet like I was in this really spiritual place and ancient passage of time I become totally present, relaxed and at peace within my new spa environment that when the spa treatment came to the end with the tropical rain showers coming over me I didn’t actually want it to end as I felt like my whole body, mind, spirit was settled, relaxed and peace and I felt like I was finally at ease and all the tension and stress had just steamed off me.
I made sure after my Opal Rasul Steam Temple that I kept my fluids up as they also encourage you to do that plus I had a coconut water just to make sure I was really well hydrated. All in all the Opal Rasul Steam Temple is such an amazing magical ancient spiritual spa experience [if you like steam rooms of course].
I personally loved how when I visit Stephanie’s Spa Retreat I could actually feel her spirit and beautiful presence and all the hard work her and team had been going to. For those who might not know the owner of the Stephanie’s Spa Retreat – Stephanie herself has been around on the Brisbane Day Spa scene for a very long time now she opened her first Day Spa Retreat in Bulimia and I have personally watched her day spa retreats in Brisbane grow and grow she now has 4 and is opening one up in Noosa also.
Stephanie’s is a true Spa it Girl at heart her love and passion for spa therapy and helping others feel good mean she has established a great spa menu, an amazing spa therapist team, and great central locations for everyone to enjoy. They have a great cliental in Brisbane and they just keep coming back for more and more.
