Just when you thought there was Only One Spa Blogger in the World Living her Dreams like Yvette Le Blowitz, Founder of Spa it Girl – Think again.
Spa it Girl caught up exclusively with Germany’s Leading Spa Blogger Jennifer Ospelt Founder of i love spa to find out what it is really like being a Spa Blogger in Berlin.
Here is our Exclusive Spa it Girl Interview with Jennifer Ospelt:
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Sure. I’m so excited that we found each other on Instagram! So, I’m Jenny, 37 years old and a qualified physiotherapist. After a contract on a cruise ship ten years ago (where I was working as a “Spa & Sports Therapist”)

I quit my medical job and lost my heart to the spa industry. Over the last ten years, I worked as a freelancing Spa Therapist and collaborated with some really great hotel spas here in Berlin.
In 2012, I started sharing my love for spas with my readers. The blog was growing fastly and since half a year now, I don’t give treatments anymore. I LOVE SPA has become my job. That’s so crazy!

What Do You Love Most About Spa’s and Visiting Day Spa’s? I think, I’m just a Spa Nerd, because I love everything about it. But if I have to list some reasons, I would say: The smell of scented candles, the silence, soft towels and empty pools.
How Does Visiting a Spa Make You Feel? Since the blog is a full time job, it feels different. Sometimes, there are days, I have to check 2 or 3 city spas. In the end of such a day, I don’t feel relaxed at all. But although I feel tired then, I’m totally happy because I can’t imagine a better job! It makes my heart dance! But thankfully, there are still other days! 48 hours in only one Hotel Spa. On those days, I feel still happier!

Do you Think visiting a Day Spa is much more than just a Beauty Treatment? Ideally yes. Although a really good facial is also “just a beauty treatment” and you can feel totally relaxed and refreshed afterwards.
What Inspired you to start Spa Blogging and to Create Your Very own Spa Blog? Well, we have lots of laws and rules here in Germany, but unfortunately there are no rules for Spa Therapists. Everybody can give treatments – I mean really EVERYBODY. That’s a big problem.
After I started freelancing as a spa therapist I decided to create an overview with recommendations for Berlin. Because of that quality problem. I didn’t expect to make money with it one day. Crazy story.

What is your Favourite Spa to Visit Locally in Berlin? Or Germany? My favourite Spa for years now(and probably for the rest of my life) is called “Bleiche” and situated in “Spreewald” which is not really far from Berlin. Just one hour by car, lucky me. It’s a place that touches my heart again and again. If you come to Germany one day, I’ll take you there.
What’s Your Favourite Spa so Far that you have visited abroad? I LOVED Lush Spa in London, I had a treatment called “The Comforter” and it felt so special. Like a fairy tale.

Do you have a Favourite Wellness Retreat you could recommend? I am an Ayurveda Therapist, so I’m very convinced by Ayurveda. I already had a panchakarma in India (Kadaltheeram) as well as in Sri Lanka (Oasis Ayurveda Beach Resort) and never felt better than after a panchakarma.
Apart from taking care of your skin through Spa Treatments, can you share anything else you like to do? I’m a big fan of “as little as possible” so I love my Konjac Sponge. And I don’t really like MakeUp. It feels like my skin can breathe much better without and it’s a feeling of freedom not to need more than 3 face products (all together).
What Skincare are you using right now? Actually I’m using Vinoble. I’m struggling with hyperpigmentation since years and Vinoble seems to work. I’m totally thrilled with it! It’s an Austrian brand made of grapes seeds.
From looking at your Instagram Page is looks like you are totally into Yoga also can you tell us more about this? Okay, seems like there is a * tiny * mismatch between my Instagram feed and reality (hehe). Just kidding. I love Yoga, but I would also love to practice more often. I’m a huge fan of Child’s Pose and Savasana ;)

With it being Winter and Cold in Berlin right now what can someone do to help Beat the Winter Blues? I always try to escape wintertime in Germany for 4 weeks in November. This year, I catched the sun in Thailand and tried some great new Spas. Win Win! Unfortunately I have no masterplan for this dark and cold season except “Try to escape for a while”.

How do you like to keep Healthy & Active? I always try to eat intuitively, get enough fresh air, spend time with the good people and do what feels right. Following my heart really helps me to keep healthy!
How do you find the Balance, how do you switch off as a Creative Spa Blogging? That’s a good question, because meanwhile, I’m a Full Time Blogger. If you do what you love, there are no boundaries between your job and your free time any longer.
So, I can say that almost everything I’m doing also has to do with I LOVE SPA. If I discover a new colouring book, I have to write about it. If I’m travelling through northern Thailand and have my first Tok Sen Massage, I have to share this experience with my readers. So, I fear, there is no “switch off”.

What is one thing you always take with you in your Handbag when Travelling? My Powerbank. I know, “Lipstick” would sound sexier, but I’m such a nerd #shitbloggersdo
What is one Spa Destination or Place that is on your I love spa Bucket List? One day, I would love to take my readers with me through a whole Panchakarma. Besides, the Dead Sea could be interesting and I would love to try shutting up for a while by doing Vipassana in Myanmar.
What do you love most about connecting with other Spa Bloggers Globally? I’m always thrilled meeting other Spa Bloggers, because when I started, there were none. In between, there are some german travel bloggers who also write about Spa and Wellness, but when I browsed through your Instagram feed for the first time, I thought: Oh my god, that’s me in down under!
If I discover a Spa Blogger, I HAVE to connect. There is no competition for me. You can reach so many more people if you connect and collaborate! And it always feels good being in touch with people who share your interests and dreams!

What Does Beauty Mean to You? Acceptance. Living in harmony with your body. Being aware of your heartbeat, that your lungs breathe, that your muscles make you move. If you are aware, you’re thankful. And if you’re thankful for your body, there will always be a glow accompanying you.
What Makes You Happy? The smell of fresh brewed coffee in the morning, the sound of fresh snow underneath my boots, baby kittens, warm cinnamon buns for breakfast, travelling and spending time with the right people.
What’s one of your Favourite Mantra’s? Move your ass and your mind will follow.
If you had any words of wisdom for other girls wanting to live their dreams, what would it be? It’s cosy inside the comfort zone, but it’s so worth leaving!
