Shangri-La Sydney is located at the historic Rocks district and it offers views of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
They offer 564 guest rooms and suites, along with one restaurant and bar on level 36 that has the spectacular city views.
Chi, The Spa, at Shangri-La draws on the inspiration from the iconic Shangri-La with spa treatments being based on traditional wellness practices shared by many Asian cultures.
Chi, The Spa, also features treatments highlighting Australian healing techniques and botanical ingredients indigenous to the region. Chi, The Spa has six suites, relaxation pods and trained therapists.
On arrival to the desk, you will be shown to the change rooms so you can change into your Spa Robe and Slippers and than after you get changed you can take a seat in Chi, The Spa and you will be offered a cup of tea or water and some paper work to fill out prior to your spa treatment room.
I have to say that all of the Shangri-La team that showed me around made me feel truly welcomed even though it was their busiest time of weekend and year as I visited during school holidays also.
I definitely felt like I was visiting during their peak period as while I waited in Chi, The Spa reception room there was other very enthusiastic spa guests excited about having their very first couples massages.
Spa Tip: when visiting the spa, I totally recommend that you don’t use your mobile phone to talk to your friends, if you can always put it on silent unless it’s an absolute emergency this can definitely help you contribute to creating a sanctuary relaxing spa experience. If you do need to speak to friends whilst with your partner arranging the night ahead, I suggest it’s always best to step outside the spa reception, relaxation waiting areas.
Whilst being connected to our mobile phones can be highly addictive – I know – I do highly recommend trying your best to disconnect from technology if you can, even if it’s only for 1 hour and 15 minutes, you really don’t want to be waiting in the spa reception scrolling your social media feeds, or chatting to friends I truly believe that the spa is a space that is created so we can relax and unwind. After visiting many spa’s right around the world for many decades now I hope my insider spa tips serves you well.
My Spa Therapist was Kimberly and when she showed me to my spa treatment room it had a very relaxing and tranquil feel which I so desperately yearned after a couple of crazy pandemic years.
I had an anti-aging facial treatment by Sodashi a Natural Skincare Australian Brand and Kimberly was highly skilled, qualified and passionate and she really made the overall Chi, The Spa experience.
My skin felt amazing after my facial treatment and I felt so deeply relaxed and refreshed. A very big thank to Kimberley my Spa Therapist who really made me feel so welcomed she was so passionate about what she did it truly showed.
After my spa treatment I had a cup of tea and than spent some time relaxing in their heated spa pool on level 2 and this was such a great winter escape.

Travel Tip: If you have seen a view from The Shangri-La Sydney on Instagram before you make your hotel room booking you really need to double check as the view you think you are booking might not look like the view on Instagram as they have 564 guests suits and rooms it’s important to note that whilst you might see a majority of influencers posting photos laying in a bed facing the windows overlooking the Sydney Opera House, that not every hotel room at The Shangri-La Sydney has beds that are facing the glass wall.
As a real life example when I stayed at The Shangri-La in a Sydney Harbour Bridge, the bed actually faced the wall. But when I looked out of the Large Window’s I could definitely see the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour from a distance and it was absolutely beautiful and yes I definitely felt I was visiting Sydney, Australia.
You definitely have to visit Level 36 as the views from the bar are absoultely amazing, especially at night as you can see all of the city lights, the Sydney Harbour Bridge light up and the Sydney Opera House and if you are lucky you might even be able to see some fireworks, it really does offer iconic Sydney views.
If you are visiting during any peak periods especially the weekend, I definitely recommend that you book in for your spa treatment in advance so you don’t miss out.
