Six Senses Kyoto has opened it’s doors in Japan. It’s a serene modern wellness escape in the Higashiyama district of the ancient city.

Embark on a holistic wellness journey at Six Senses Kyoto Spa, where smart technology meets traditional healing methods and the essence of Zen culture.

Six Senses Kyoto Spa has Four Treatment suites, including one double treatment suite (Smell) and three single treatment suites (Sound, Sight and Taste).  Each suite is inspired by the five senses and has wind chimes, rock gardens, incense and moss walls.

One Sensory Studio for the multi-purpose of meditation, yoga, and flying yoga. The spa has a swimming pool with a designated area for Watsu therapy, an Alchemy Bar, a Biohack Recovery Lounge.  A Japanese and Herbal Tea Lounge.  Along with a 24-hour Fitness Centre.

Think water sounds, ikebana flower arrangements and Zen-inspired rocks that complement the natural materials and soft curves.

The key to biohacking is finding ways to feel better faster.  Six Senses use smart tech to optimise your body’s natural processes so you can recover quicker.  Hacks include compression therapy, pain relief, instant tension release and more.

You will be invited to enjoy an authentic bathing ritual prior to your treatment journey, and a tea ritual featuring their exclusive herbal will bring your memorable spa experience to a close.

On the Spa Menu you will find one of the standout treatments the Watsu (Aquatic Bodywork) a healing experience for both physical and emotional conditions.

It is especially effective in addressing chronic pain, joint stiffness, arthritis, stress, sleep disorders and incorporates therapies involving emotional release.

It uses massage and stretching techniques to soften muscles, stretch tissues, and open energy pathways to increase mobility and flexibility and release stored emotions.  To note you are required to wear a swimsuit for this treatment.

Congratulations to Six Senses Kyoto Spa who have been nominated for the Spa it Girl AwardsFavourite Spa Treatment in 2024.  The Favourite Spa Treatment nominated is the Watsu (Aquatic Bodywork) and considering this Six Senses destination only recently opened in Japan this is very exciting spa wellness news indeed especially for the spa team.

At the spa you can enjoy a nourishing wellness shot before blending up your own beauty scrubs at the Alchemy Bar.

Ingredients are chosen every period to reflect Japan’s 24 micro-seasons, or sekki, from Risshun (beginning of spring) in early February right through until Daikan (greater cold) the following January.

When you stay at Six Senses Kyoto you can choose a view from one of their 81 rooms and suites – the choice of views are either their internal courtyard, the city, or the garden of the famous 16th-century Toyokuni Shrine opposite them.

Six Senses Kyoto can be found in the tranquil Higashiyama district, an easy walk from the Myoho-in Temple, Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangendo Buddhist Temple, offering a serene sanctuary inspired by the flourishing art and cultural heritage from the Heian era.

Kyoto is historically the capital and still thought to be the cultural and historical heart of Japan.  Kyoto is famed for its Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, palaces, traditional Japanese architecture, beautiful cherry blossoms, and mountains covered in centuries-old cedar trees surrounding the city.

Beyond the major sites are narrow alleyways dotted with small family-run arts and crafts businesses, art galleries, and traditional Kyoto food shops.  Six Senses Kyoto is an ideal base to discover the hidden gems.

Nature lovers can hike through the cedar-clad mountains on trails that served as pilgrimage routes for the monks in bygone days.  The spirituality inclined can find balance and inner peace while meditating at a tranquil Zen temple.

Food is served in the all-day dining Sekki and Cafe Sekki at Six Senses Kyoto and they use seasonal ingredients such as Kyoto vegetables that are grown by seventh-generation Yamada Farm.

Threading all of these elements together is the spirit of playfulness, know as asobi gokoro.
