What Makes This Spa Different

The Well follows continental European bathing traditions with nudity in the saunas and steam baths.

Swimwear is not permitted in these areas, but if you want to cover yourself with a towel that is provided upon entry or a lightweight peshtemal is available to purchase at their spa reception.

Every Tuesday is Swimwear Day on this day swimwear is mandatory throughout the spa facility.

If you wish to bathe with swimwear you must however use The Well’s own as it’s specifically designed for their spa.

The swimwear is available for purchase at the spa reception and is yours to keep.

Spa Health Benefits

The effects of sauna, cold plunge, and steam bath are increasingly supported by medical research.

Several studies highlight how temperature changes, water, and relaxation can have a significant impact on both physical and mental health.

Immune System and Rejuvenation

Regular sauna use is known to strengthen the immune system. In Finland, the sauna is called a “fountain of rejuvenation,” a claim now backed by research.

The heat triggers important processes in the body such as increased blood circulation and sweating, which help the body eliminate toxins and better regulate body temperature.

Sauna Cycle

For the best effect, a sauna session should be combined with cold exposure.

A typical sauna cycle starts with heat, followed by acclimatisation, a cold shower or ice bath.

This alternation stimulates both the autonomic and somatic nervous systems.

Heat expands the blood vessels and reduces muscle tension, while cold contracts the vessels and lowers the pulse.

The result? Increased circulation, better sleep, reduced stress and a body that feels lighter and more balanced.

Steam

Steam baths are an ancient tradition dating back to, among others, the Roman Empire.

The Well offer four different steam baths.

Moist heat can help lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and provide an uplifting effect on the cardiovascular system.

Steam also opens the pores, removes dirt, and adds moisture making it perfect for a natural glow and softer skin.

Water

Water has always been central to both health and spirituality.

At The Well you can experience water in all its forms – from warm pools and steam to cold plunges and melting ice in their aufguss ceremonies.

The holistic exposure to water is not only refreshing but can also be calming, strengthening, and cleansing.

It’s about actively using the elements to support the body’s natural balance.
