Meet Lee Holmes: My desire to live a Supercharged lifestyle began after I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and fibromyalgia. I focused my attention on improving my diet to help manage my symptoms and from there I really found my passion for creating easy and simple recipes.

With many of us living such busy lifestyles, I think it’s important to remember that a healthy lifestyle can be achieved by making small changes.

My website, Supercharged food; www.superchargedfood.com is orientated around making recipes that are not only classic and elegant, but that are also simple, quick and easy to prepare.

I’m also a yoga teacher and the author of six cookbooks. Cooking is my passion!

I previously studied food and nutrition but for as long as I can remember I have loved cooking and creating healthy and delicious meals. It probably started back when I was a little girl living in the UK with my Mum and sister.

Somehow my mum turned the backyard of our suburban block into a foodies heaven! Her green thumb turned the baron backyard into an oasis of crunchy green vegetables, bunches of homegrown lettuce and the most vibrant juiciest strawberries I have ever tasted!

Mum encouraged us from a young age to know where your food comes from and eat as fresh and as seasonal as possible so I guess I have her to thank for my healthy foodie addiction.

How do you like to Keep Healthy & Active? I find that yoga helps me to not only maintain a healthy body, but a healthy mind as well. I’m actually a practicing yoga teacher and I teach regularly. I find that getting up first thing in the morning and doing some light stretches and meditation really helps to clear my mind and get me ready for the day. I also enjoy walking and hiking.

What Can We Do To Feel Well Inside? I truly believe that diet is everything when it comes to looking good and feeling good. By adopting a healthy lifestyle you can expect a lot more energy and a stronger immune system. I believe in simplicity – make small changes over time, don’t try and change everything in a day or you’re more likely to give up.

It’s also important to know how to read the labels on food products in the supermarket. Many companies label their products as ‘healthy’, however these products are packed with unnatural ingredients, additives and large amounts of sodium.

Can you tell us what your book, Heal Your Gut is about? Heal Your Gut is really all about cleansing, restoring and nourishing your digestive system. Our digestive systems are filed with trillions of bacteria, both good and bad. The quantity and quality of microflora living in our guts can tell us a lot about our overall health.

An imbalance in healthy bacteria can influence the immune system, disrupt hormone levels, lead to low energy and can cause weight gain. My recipes aim to improve the health of the microflora in your gut and, in turn, detoxify, replenish and heal the gut.

Think of the gut as a garden that can only thrive when the soil is healthy. Healthy soil requires healthy foods and nutrients that will allow the ‘good guys’ to flourish. By feeding the body all-natural, easily digestible wholefoods, you allow your body to heal at a fundamental level.

My mantra is that health and wellness starts with the gut!

We see you offer on-line Heal Your Gut program, can you tell us more? The Four week and two day a week Heal Your Gut online programs feature a team of experts to help and also daily emails and videos and a private support group to help people really improve their gut health. You can read more about the four week program click here

Can you share any Foods, that we can eat to help with our Digestion and to reduce Bloating? Yes there are lots of anti bloating foods such as cucumber, asparagus and banana that you can introduce into your diet. Also drinking water actually helps with bloating!

Every morning I stir one spoonful of my Heal Your Gut powder into a big glass of water. It gives me boundless energy for the day and helps to keep my sweet cravings and appetite in check.

Heal Your Gut powder improves nutrient absorption and sweeps away any toxins or plaque that may have built up in the digestive system, reducing bloating.

I also love adding it to my morning smoothies, sprinkling it on top of soups and on occasion I even mix it into my pancakes on a cheeky Sunday morning.

The other thing that’s is great for gut health and bloating is colostrum. Colostrum is rich in protein and antibodies to support immune function and growth factors that help aid healthy gastrointestinal development. I use Southernature Chewable Colostrum which you can read more about here.

You have so many published cook books, can you tell what your go-to recipe is? One of my go to dishes is my nachos recipe you can find it by clicking here.

What does a typical day of food on the plate look like for you? Smoothie or granola for breakfast, lunch is fish with steamed veg and dinner is usually something slow cooked like lamb shanks with green veg. Snacks are chocolate, nuts, bliss balls!

What words or wisdom can you share to others wanting to live their passion and dreams daily? Just go for it! The more passionate you are about getting your message out there to the public, the more likely you will reach that goal! Just start small, but dream big.

Do you have any Skincare Tips you would like to share with us? What Skincare Range are you using right now? And why? I love to use my Heal Your Gut powder as a creamy clay mask. I use it once a week and I find that it not only rids my skin of built up oils and make up products, but it cools and nourishes my skin, leaving it feeling soft and revitalized. I also use Natural Instinct products and love their Rose Hip oil body wash.

Do you have any Spa’s you love visiting? I recently went to Anahata Ayurvedic Spa in Mosman which was good.

What is the Most Rewarding thing about Living Your Dreams? I think the most rewarding part is knowing that I’m helping other people to reach their health goals and to live a happy and healthy life.

I love receiving emails and messages on social media from people who tell me how much they enjoy my cookbooks and my online programs and how they have adopted a healthier way of life and are happy and confident in themselves.

I really feel like those little things are great reminders for me to continue posting on my website and creating new books and to try and reach as many people as I can.
