Here is our Spa it Girl Interview with Lola Berry {enjoy}:

What inspired you to become a Nutritionist? Well I was actually really unhealthy I was 18, a DJ and my favourite foods were lamingtons and caramello koalas but I always loved food. Anyway I went on this “summertime detox” one day to impress a boy, as you do at 18 and I was blown away at how good eating whole foods made me feel.

The weight lost was more of a side effect, I slept better, I was nicer, my eyes were clear. Then I just became so fascinated with whole foods and how they could effect the body, like how broccoli works on the sulphating pathway of the liver or how parts of blueberries can cross the blood brain barrier.

Then I was always too scared to study nutritional medicine or a bachelor of health science degree, I thought I wasn’t smart enough but I took the plunge and began my nutrition degree, I got 31% on my first chemistry exam mind you! But I did get there in the end! I am inspired by anyone who unapologetically lives their passion, Steve Irwin and my dad are my two biggest inspirations.

What do you love most about being Australia’s Favorite Nutritionist?
I think there’s loads of great Aussie nutritionists out there, so the way I see it, is that I’m just one of them. I’m just about living from my heart and being real, I’m defiantly no guru, I just love what I do, and I share that.

When You Wake up In the Morning what is the First Thing You Do? It changes heaps but usually a run, walk or yoga then a make a smoothie, at the moment I’m loving berry smoothies.

What things do you like to do to make you Feel Good? Yogis, I say yoga is a gift I give myself when I practice and its what I share with others when I teach. Nature, biophilia is the healing power of mother nature, so I love just getting out into nature, I find it really grounding and centering. I love hanging out with mates, the real ones who tell you how it is with no sugar coating; Oscar, Sophie, Andrea, Maddie, Linda and Karina. Haha, they’re the best! I love going to music gigs, I love being around people living their passion so that’s a pretty fun way to see it.

As a dedicated Yogi what type of Yoga do you like to practice & where do you practice? I teach and practice vinyasa and yin. I practice at power living (that’s also where I did my teacher training) and yoke.

What things can we eat for healthy glowing skin?
Fats; good fats like crispy salmon, avo, nuts and seeds and cooking with coconut oil is also good and I even use coconut oil as a hair treatment.

What Skincare products are you using right now? I was given this lovely range from gaia health retreat and I’m currently using their whole range and I love it! the polish is my favourite! and I also use the Swisse skincare eye cream and antioxidant oil which I love and take with me everywhere I travel.

What Day Spa have you visited lately? I went to this amazing spa in Tulum Mexico a few weeks ago, and had this body wrap which was pretty special.

What is your Favorite Fruit to eat? Berries for fruit – have them every day in my smoothie and Vegetables? would be Brussel sprouts and mushrooms, love them!!

What do you Love to Eat For: Breakfast? Smoothie for brekkie, I mix it up but generally involves berries, babay spinach, spirulina, almond milk, frozen banana and cinnamon Lunch? Something bright like a quinoa superfood salad Dinner? I love crispy salmon with sweet spud mash and avo but I also love chicken and veggies all dressing in extra virgin olive oil and topped with crushed nuts and dukkah spices  Snacks? Raw chocolate or raw protein balls!

We all here the saying everything in Moderation as a qualified Nutritionist what do you think?  Yeah for sure, it’s all about balance and listening to your body!

Do you have a favourite recipe from all of your cook books you personally love to make? Crispy salmon! Every time! It’s my go to and I love the hummingbird cake too!

With all of the Book Launches around the globe, which has been your favourite place so far to visit & why? I love travelling I feel like I’m a bit of a gypsy. I really love Mexico and Hawaii – I’m a warm sunshine kind of soul and I love the energy and vibe of America too, it’s very inspiring!

You have 6 published books and 1 more to be released in November (exciting!!) what words of wisdom can you give someone who want’s to live their dreams? Its really just about believing in yourself, that’s the key, you’re the only person who can get you to where you want to go and you’re the only person who can stop you. So go out there and get that dream.

What is a Mantra do you love to live by?
Be real

What things do you think anyone can do to Feel Good? Be kind, it feels good to be kind and nothing bad comes from kindness.
